Two New Writing Courses On The Horizon

Here’s a sneak peek into two exciting new writing courses Summit University will be offering during the second half of 2021. Registration will open on April 26. Please click on the link below for further information.

ENGL 1225 ENGLISH WRITING SKILLS

ENGL 1225 is a skills training course that teaches the principles of good English writing. The course includes composition, vocabulary, spelling and punctuation, formal vs. informal writing, using active and passive voice, writing in first, second and third person, and similar topics. Students will also be reviewing different areas of writing such as articles, business writing, cover letters, essays and email composition. Practice exercises designed for skill enhancement supplement the textbook materials.

The textbook, Advanced Writing Skills for Students of English by Phil Williams, is a comprehensive resource for improving one’s English writing skills. The course is ideal for students whose second language is English. It will run from August 17 through October 11.

ENGL 1275 WEB CONTENT DEVELOPMENT

ENGL 1275 trains students in creating quality content for the internet to attract visitors, convey strong messages, and keep readers coming back for more. You’ll learn writing skills that will empower you to create authentic content for social media, websites, blogs, webinars, ebooks, videos and podcasting, as well as the best use of pictures and illustrations. The course includes detailed exercises to help you get comfortable with writing for the web.

The course textbook, Content Rules, is a gold mine of content writing techniques, guidelines and success stories. The course will run from October 19 through December 13.

To take either of these courses, you must be a credit or audit student in the SU Online School of Theology and Spiritual Studies, and it must be a required or elective component for your program of study. Click here to learn more about the School of Theology.
